The Cause:
I'm raising money for the Courage Classic Bicycle Tour. The Courage Classic supports the Child Abuse Intervention Department at Tacoma's Mary Bridge Children's Hospital. We're talking about dollars that provide FREE services for kids who have been really hurt. This program and these kids need our support, so I'm stepping up my fund-raising efforts another notch by having a charity raffle right here at the ranch!
The Raffle:
1. For every $5 that you donate to my online Courage Classic fund-raising effort, you will have your name entered one time into a drawing to win the hat. (Example: You make one online donation of $25, and I place five separate entries into the hat, each bearing your name.)
2. For the purpose of this raffle, all donations must be made by 7 pm PDT on July 17. My daughter will randomly draw one winning entry from the hat that evening and I will announce the winner on July 18 here on TBR. I will contact the winner by email, so make sure you enter a valid email address when you donate.
3. I will pay to ship the hat to the winner via USPS Priority mail to anywhere in the US.
4. If you've donated prior to this post, thank you, but in order to be eligible to win the hat, you must pony up again. Fair is fair.
5. DONATE HERE! Online donations through firstgiving.com are easy and secure. Plus, the hospital is a registered 501c(3) non-profit organization, for you tax-deduction seekers.
The Hat:
I made this one-of-a-kind hat just for the raffle. It features actual, re-used Fat Tire Amber Ale aluminum beer cans. It's neo-retro art Americana in its finest wearable form! I've been perfecting this form of haberdashery for 15 years after finding a few 1970's can hats in my grandma's attic. Suitable for any occasion and keeping your melon surprising warm.
The Connection:
Beers and bikes go well together. I'll be riding the Courage Classic with the Harmon Bike Club, a club founded by Harmon Brewing specifically to field a team for this ride. A few pints of Brown's Point ESB after a group ride always seem to hit the spot.
New Belgium Brewing (makers of Fat Tire Amber Ale) is an official sponsor of the Courage Classic. However, please note that neither I nor this raffle are in any way affiliated with, nor are we representing or attempting to represent New Belgium Brewing in any way. In my humble opinion, NBB is a remarkable company that would likely not object to the sort of tomfoolery this hat may encourage.
Now go grab yourself a fiver, donate here, and remember - we're doing this for kids that really need our help.
Cheers,
Matt

I am an owner of a similar Matt Newport original hat, and can attest to its quality, stylishness, and complete lack of smelling like beer.
I LOVE it!!!
I'll donate to your cause.
